MEET KEVIN HAYDEN

Kevin is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, from an early age his parents taught him the importance of getting involved in your community and the meaning of hard work. He received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 1990 and then decided to attend law school, graduating from Boston University in 1995.

Following graduation Kevin began his career in the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, serving under former DA Ralph Martin. Over the course of the next decade, he served in a variety of capacities, notably as Chief of the Safe Neighborhood Initiative where he worked collaboratively with local, state, and federal partners to lead on critical violence prevention programs and initiatives for at-risk youth, services for victims and witnesses, and citizens returning from incarceration. In addition to this role, Kevin served as the Assistant District Attorney for the Homicide Response Team, the Juvenile Unit, and for the Boston Municipal Court.

After leaving the District Attorney's Office, Kevin spent five years working in private practice as a criminal defense attorney. In that capacity, he served as a bar advocate for the Committee for Public Counsel Services representing clients who otherwise would not have been able to pay for their own defense.

Kevin served as General Counsel and was then appointed Chairperson of the state Sex Offender Registry Board, where he worked to ensure the successful completion of the board’s mission to classify offenders and make essential information available to the public.

Outside of his legal career, DA Hayden serves as the Board Chairman of the non-profit Board affiliated with Youth Options Unlimited, Boston, a workforce development organization that works with young people, who are court-involved or gang-affiliated, reentering the community from incarceration, or seeking a refuge from poverty or violence. He also serves as deacon at Jubilee Christian Church in Mattapan and coaches youth lacrosse.

Currently, Kevin lives in Roslindale with his wife Michelle and their two sons.
